Senior Art Director

The Senior Art Director manages the visual design elements from concept through execution (i.e. wireframes, illustration, photography, final art) with little to no supervision while assisting the Creative Director (Associate Creative Director) in the planning and execution of client’s projects and the group’s workload.

This position is responsible for the conception, design, and execution of innovative visual communications.

A Senior Art Director is confident, eloquent and passionate about creating compelling, insight-driven, customer-focused communications that drive results.

Art directors work collaboratively with copywriters and creative directors in conceptualizin­­g, designing and creating work that brings life to great strategy.

Core Accountabilities

  • Takes a strategic creative brief to captivating visual form
  • Creates a range of concepts and designs for each project with strong strategy and copy partnerships
  • Demonstrates mastery and skill in typography, layout, motion- static, digital, environmental and video
  • Takes art direction and retail design to the next level by staying informed and inspired
  • Justifies design decisions, manages teams, sells concepts, and balances client expectations with passion and integrity
  • Mentors more junior team members by assisting them in the growth of their skill sets and understanding of industry practices
  • Develops relationships with co-workers and suppliers that are harmonious and productive
  • Maintains or exceeds creative and graphic standards in all work
  • Contributes toward clients' marketing objectives and ensures the continuation of the agency's operating standards are maintained at a satisfactory level
  • Works closely with the User Experience Designer to contribute to the navigational and functional flow of websites and applications
  • Provides final electronic files to prepress department in accordance with established guidelines and procedures to ensure highest quality and most efficient processing of final art

    • Strong photo shoot experience both studio and location
    • Skilled in the latest versions of the Macintosh operating system, Expert level in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign

    • Directs other creatives with passion and confidence
    • Ability to organize and format information
    • Ability to manage a photo shoot
    • Meets deadlines, delivers on budget
  • Personal/Leadership skills
    • Great communicator and collaborator
  • Sound business and professional ethics


  • Years Experience: 5+ years working in an agency environment
  • Education: Four-Year Degree
  • Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
  • Travel: Based on the requirements and location of the account being serviced
